Date : 16.11.2024 Time : 9.30 a.m - 1.00 p.m. Venue : Middleton Chambers, Kolkata Resource person : Mrs Swati Sarawagi, Mrs Kavita Gupta, Mrs Saba Islam Name of the Teachers participated : Mrs Sima Thakur, Mrs Dolan Khan and Mrs Jayashree Mukherjee Organised By: MacMillan Education Aims and purposes of the workshop: To inculcate play way method of learning for overall growth of the children. “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” ~ George Bernard Shaw It was a delightful session by Macmillan Education where one could eyewitness innumerable ideas and vision towards the importance of PLAY in childhood pedagogy. Our teachers attended the workshop as we always believe that children need to learn by doing something creative and they should be engaged in activities which are integrated with the real life situations. PLAY is the way to enhance the willingness of a child to know and learn with realistic accumulation of environmental strategies. Here the workshop was organised by the Macmillan education to highlight the importance of play in children's life. The resource person, Mrs Swati Sarawagi, the Territory Head of ECA, built a playful environment for the children to inculcate various cognitive, holistic and ethical development through the terms “Panchakosha”. She also affixed that during playing, a teacher must relate the three important processes negotiation, assertiveness and sharing nature, in children's mind. The second session was presented by Mrs Kavita Gupta who is a wonderful storyteller and a theatre artist. She made an ambience of expression through her innovative storyline and she explained some storyscape by emphasizing on body language and voice modulation. The last but not the least another session was with Mrs Saba Islam. She incredibly added a gravity in the session by spotlighting on CIRCLE TIME for the students. The Data collection during Circle time helped to understand the individuals, Moreover, she elaborated the importance of Multiple Intelligence Theory. The entire workshop was quite relevant to the present education policy and our teachers were overjoyed to be a part of it.
