International Literacy Week Celebration (2025)

International Literacy Day is an international observance celebrated each year on 8 September. It was declared by UNESCO on 26 October 1966 at the 14th session of UNESCO's General Conference and celebrated for the first time in 1967. The day's aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities, and societies. Celebrations take place in several countries. Literacy is important because it is a fundamental human right and a key to personal empowerment, economic development, and societal progress. It allows individuals to acquire knowledge, communicate effectively, access better job opportunities, and participate fully in community life. For a society, high literacy rates lead to improved economies, greater peace and tolerance, and the ability to tackle complex global challenges like poverty and climate change. In this regard students of STEM World School are celebrating International literacy week through their activities.
